After completing the modules and taking the exam, the student is issued the National Technical Certificate (Modular) in Photographic Practice.

Advantages of having NABTEB modular trade certificate in Photographic Practice

  • Apart from recognizing the potentials of photographers, the NABTEB Modular Trade Certificate is designed to empower them and channel their resources towards sustainable national development.
  • The Modular Trade Certificate Examination offers a golden opportunity for talented and skilled photographers who could not be gainfully employed or duly promoted for lack of acceptable educational qualification.
  • Skill acquisition: You get trained in photography as a trade and become an expert in it.
  • Gainful employment and career development. Having the NABTEB Modular Trade Certificate in Photographic Practice will boost your job opportunities and could possibly allow you to demand more pay. An employer is far more likely to choose the candidate with the certificate over the candidate who does not.
  • Economic self reliance, Wealth creation and Self-employment: A skill acquired man is a self-employed man. A self-employed person can never go hungry because the skill he acquired provides food for him/her on a daily basis. But one who lacks skill acquisition will find it difficult to be self-employed because he/she has nothing to offer.

Standard Institute of Photography photo trip to Ibadan Tourist Centre

A PHOTO TRIP TO BOWER’S TOWER TOURIST CENTRE IBADAN.

Last week two of our photography students from Standard Institute of Photography Ibadan in company of the Director of the Institute took a photo trip to Ibadan Tourist Centre to get pictures to use for their photography project. The Photo trip was fun and mind blowing. The whole ancient city of Ibadan was seen from another perspective through the lenses of our cameras.

About Bower’s Tower Tourist Centre, Ibadan: Bower’s Tower can be seen at the top of Oke-Are in Ibadan. It is an historic monument put up to honour Captain Robert Lister Bower in 1936 – he was the first British Resident in Ibadan, and appointed by the British government to administer the ancient city, which he did between 1893 and 1897. The Bower’s Tower was designed by Taffy Jones, the engineer that designed Mapo Hall.

The tower is 60 feet high and 11 feet square with two entrances and a spiral staircase that leads to the top of the tower. From the summit of the tower, you can see Ibadan round about sprawling before you and appreciate the pre-historicity of the town. The Bower Tower is someplace to check out if you happen to be in Ibadan.

Bower’s Tower is located on the summit of Oke-Are, the highest hill in Ibadan, from which one enjoys a commanding view of the city. Oke-Are (“The Army Chief’s Hill”) is the site central to Igbo-Agala (Agala Forest) in Sapati Area.

The monument was erected in 1836 as a memorial to Captain Robert Lister Bower, the first British resident in Ibadan and the Travelling Commissioner for the interior of Yoruba land (as the stiffly officious British termed his office), South western Nigeria between 1893 and 1897. From the top of the Tower, the ancient city lays before you, spread out in her splendor; but today, getting to the peak of the Tower will not make one see more that 1/3 of the great city of warriors.

Anyone with a good vision can see the Lagos-Ibadan toll gate as well as Ife- Ilesha toll gate from the top of the Tower. One can also see the whole of UCH, University of Ibadan, the Polytechnic of Ibadan, the Adamasinga stadium and the colourful conference of rustic brown metal roofs which covers a larger percentage of the buildings in the city.
